IP44 means this fitting is protected against water splashes from any direction — suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, but not zone 1 (directly above a shower or bath, which requires IP65). The glass globe diffuses the E27 bulb evenly for a soft, glare-free result that suits bathrooms where harsh direct light would be unflattering. Max wattage is 40W — a 5W LED equivalent is sufficient for most bathroom uses. Dimming requires a trailing edge dimmer switch (not a standard leading edge dimmer) — confirm this with your electrician before installation, as the wrong dimmer type can cause flickering or buzzing with LED bulbs.
